In this blog post, I will be talking about my top 3 Christmas movies I must always watch during the month of December. Each movie represents different genres of movies, and they are all also significant to me in many ways as I will explain.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
To be honest, most of the year I do represent myself as more of a scrooge, so there are many reasons I can resonate with the character of the Grinch. Most of all, I enjoy this movie because of how much it brought my family (in particular my brother) together during the holidays. I also think the nostalgia of this movie contributes to the importance of it for myself.
Klaus (2019)
This movie is relatively new. It came out in 2019, but watching it will stay a holiday tradition for me. The first time I watched it, it definitely made me depressed. However, it does get better as the plot moves forward. Above all, I think the story of Klaus finds a way to portray a heartwarming story packaged in a more deep theme. It made me more appreciative of the family and friends I have and it always leaves me feeling as though I mentally accomplished something even though I was just watching a movie.
The Santa Clause (1994)
I don’t know how this movie has a hold over me, but something about Santa dying from falling off a roof in front of the new Santa is probably what got me hooked. The entire movie is a fever dream to be honest, but I love every second of it. Again, this movie brings back so much nostalgia for me and is a favorite of my dad and I to watch together. We mainly make fun of the plot holes, but it is a wholesome and lovely movie all-together.
